After 5 tradeshow

I realize that I haven’t mentioned anything about the tradeshow last week. It was a tiring 5 hours on our feet, but I think everyone had fun and we introduced our new GreenGoat initiative.

As always, there was great food it was nice to be so close to Unique Coffee Service who kept us awash in specialty teas, and MCC Industrial seemed to be willing to try and recycle my old Roomba. Robertson Brown Health Services was there as well (they have such a lovely website). It was good to see so many people from Guelph, it seemed that half of the people there knew Trudy, or GiantGoat.

I think we’ll be back next year.

Coop at GiantGoat

Well my time is up here are GiantGoat and I got to say it was a great experience. Coop students don’t really know what a place is going to like when they first get to a job. Sometimes you are considered a lower employee that doesn’t get much in the way of real work or on the other hand you could go to a place where you get to do actual work that contributes to both your learning and the company’s products. I would have to say the experience here at GiantGoat has been the latter for the most part. Sure there have been times where I’ve had to do the grunt work that no one else wanted to do but I also got to work on major projects and contribute them. I would have to say that this is a great place to find what working in web development is really about and I know I have taken a lot away from this job. Continue with the great work GiantGoat and keep hiring us coops as you know we are pretty awesome.

Stealth E-deal

I’m so close to buying today’s Stealth E-deal, which brings up two points:

  • It’s really hard to find marginal deals and edge people towards them: I like the Albion, and I might want to get food on a Monday through Wednesday, but I’m hesitating. (Still I like that I can participate in the KW and the Guelph deals, unlike with Groupon)
  • Branding is hard, I see the Stealth E-deal people at least once a week, and I still parse the URL depth first (“stealth” is a longer word than “steal”)

Wow, Wavii

A hearty congratulations go out to Wavii, the latest startup by a friend of mine, on their funding and amazingly good press:

Time To Meet Wavii, The Super Stealth, Super Awesome Startup Based In…Seattle? … The company has raised $2 million to date from high profile angel investors. Among others, we believe SV Angel, Felicis Ventures, Max Levchin, Mitch Kapor and Fritz Lanman are all current investors.

Adrian’s been telling me nothing useful about this company for a while now, and I look forward to finding out what he hasn’t been talking about.
